The Fareham SVP Conference had a busy year in 2024 and hit the ground running at the start of 2025. We currently have eleven full time members, two people are in the process of joining us and we are supporting 38 Beneficiaries in various ways – providing someone to chat with, helping with transport needs to hospital, doctors, dentists and shopping. If we can help, we will; if we can’t, we will signpost you to someone who can.

Overseas, we support some small projects in India and gave one-off support to the appeal for Grenada after the storm that almost wiped the island off the face of the earth. At home, we supported some families in our community with vouchers at Christmas, and donated hampers to families just before the children broke up for the summer holidays.  

Sadly, one of our volunteers died this year, Ken Wilson, a true stalwart of SVP and within the parish. May he rest in peace. 

Your SVP supported the Masses of Anointing, of Thanksgiving and for the elderly at Christmas. We arranged tea, cake and sandwiches after each Mass and were blessed at Christmas by St Jude's Choir who entertained our guests with a number of Christmas carols. As always, they did themselves proud and the guests really enjoyed themselves. 

2024 was a great year and we look forward to 2025 bringing even more opportunities for us to help those in need. As always, we thank our fellow parishioners for all the support you provide, ranging from funding to contributions towards the party food we provide for our senior citizens and, of course, your prayers. 

We intend to be support St Jude’s School again this summer and Christmas, and during the year we hope to spread our wings and reach out to Gosport, Stubbington and surrounding areas as part of the efforts to amalgamate the parishes. The project is currently in the planning stages, but I will update this website with more information as it becomes available.
